Artist's Comments

:iconminirally37: and myself entered the Peabody Essex Museum's ' Polar Point of View' photo contest in early April.

This was our submission entitled, 'Captivity'.

WE WON 2ND PLACE! :D
Our photo will be displayed in the PEM from May 8th until June 7th!

The rules were to take a photograph that mimics the artist, Thea Eck. Eck takes pictures of toys in a polar landscape and that's exactly what we did.

We went out and bought toy penguins and polar bears.
The blue stuff you see is 2 gallons of Jell-O gelatin in a fishtank, the glaciers are in fact real ice that had been frozen into funky shapes. We then backlit the whole scene...and voila!

Here's the link to the PEM's blog where we, and the other winners, are displayed!:

I had to agree with Hopey. I liked yours a lot better than the person who won first place. ;) I was wondering how you created the scene. Jello & ice! Lovely!
